WINERY: Agricole Pietraventosa
COUNTRY: Italy
REGION: Puglia
APPELLATION: Puglia I.G.T
GRAPE: 100% Primitivo

WINEMAKER NOTES: ‘Volere Volare’ is a 100% Primitivo (same grape as Zinfandel), fermented only in stainless steel followed by a further 2 months, the production is approximately 7000 bottles! It is an unfiltered wine, made by selectioned grapes of the noble vineyard Primitivo of Gioia del Colle, soft and well structured, with aromas of spices and red fruits.

TASTING NOTES: Soft and well-structured wine, with hints of chilli pepper, rosemary and sage flowers. Energetic and juicy, it recalls blood orange and soft notes of tobacco.

PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Pairs well with red meats like lamb and steak. Try it with Pizza, red sauce based pastas or with the traditional Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa.

ABOUT THE WINERY: Pietraventosa was founded in Puglia in 2005, a small wine estate making a little amount of wine every year. Located at 380 metres above sea level on the cooler, fractured limestone knoll of Gioia del Colle, prized for the quality of its Primitivo grapes. The estate is owned by Marianna Annio & her husband Raffaele, an engineer specializing in fermentation tanks! The vineyards are mostly planted with Primitivo with a hectare of Aglianico, it’s all organic and everything is done to make the most delicious wines possible. Harvest is by hand, small yields applied here, ensuring enough concentration in the grapes at harvest.
