WINEMAKER NOTES: The Sangiovese grapes are selected with the same accurancy of our Brunello grapes, same vinification the difference is the ageing that is just 4 months in Slavonian large oak barrel, then 2 months in bottle.
TASTING NOTES: Delicate aromas of red cherries, wild berries, and fresh herbs. A fresh palate and classic Sangiovese structure with high acid, very fine tannins, and a dusty finish. Flavors of bright cherries, graphite, oregano, and subtle notes of earth and tobacco.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Rich pastas, roast meat, beef and pork grilled meat
ABOUT THE WINERY: The La Gerla Estate is considered one of the Best Brunello wineries. Founded in 1976 by the late Sergio Rossi. Mr. Rossi purchased the property in 1975 from Tedina Biondi-Santi, the daughter of Tancredi Biondi-Santi, who had inherited the property after her father’s passing. Today the estate is run by vineyard manager/director Alberto Passeri and winemaker Vittorio Fiore.
Together, they make some of the most memorable Tuscan wines today.
