WINERY: Tenuta Pieralisi / Terre Monte Schiavo
COUNTRY: Italy
REGION: Marche
APPELLATION: Lacrima di Morro d'Alba D.O.C.
GRAPE: 100% Lacrima
WINEMAKER NOTES: Obtained from the autochthonous Lacrima vine, a rare survivor of medieval winemaking in the Marche region, it is characterized by a dominant aromatic imprint where floral notes of violets and roses anticipate hints of small berries. The delicate and pleasantly spicy flavour with a hint of liquorice contributes to making this wine unique.
TASTING NOTES: A sunny, inviting, lightly refreshing wine, with fragrant strawberry and roses, plus a lovely varietal character. This is so easy to drink yet intensely flavoured as well, with crisp cranberries and further, juicy red fruits on the palate, skilfully-judged acidity, and a pretty, perfumed finish.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Excellent with cured meats, white meats, and fish soups.
ABOUT THE WINERY: The Pieralisi Estate, owned by one of the most famous families of entrepreneurs and winemakers in the Marche region since the 1960s, was established with the creation of the Monte Schiavo winery in 1976 in Maiolati Spontini, in the province of Ancona, in the heart of the classic production area of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
