Region: Santa Cruz Mountains
Appellation: Santa Cruz Mountains
Type: Red wine, dry
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
The “Cote Sud” Vineyard (translation: the “slope” facing “south”) resides at the top of a long, steep south-facing slope, which increases the intensity of sunlight in an otherwise very cool environment.
Tasting notes: We call Cote Sud our “Pinot Noir with a ‘blow away’ bouquet.” Ronn Wiegand: “Exceptional quality (⁕⁕⁕⁕⁕): very ripe and rich in style, with fine and complex character (blueberry, black cherry, sage, violet, lavender), and overtones of tobacco, cedar, and vanilla. It is smoothly textured, very well balanced, and very long and persistent on the finish. Drinks beautifully now with decanting an hour before.”
