Ronchi Di Cialla was founded in 1970 by pioneering winemakers Dina and Paolo Rapuzzi. Located in the hills of eastern Friuli in northeastern Italy, the name translates to “hills of Cialla”. The estate focuses on indigenous varieties especially those of which are on the verge of disappearing, such as Ribolla Nera, Refosco and Picolit. In fact, they are responsible for saving the Schioppettino grape from near extinction. Certified Biodiversity Friendly, they practice integrated farming, with an emphasis on low environmental impact. The vineyards are entirely free of any chemicals, biological products are used to a minimum degree and fungi and parasite control is managed by a computerized micro-climatic unit. Today, their sons Pierpaolo and Ivan are carrying on in their footsteps.

Winemaking: From vines 25 years old, in marly soil 200-230 meters in elevation. Maceration on the skins for 18 hours in steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by 4 months ageing on the lees with batonage 3 times a week.

Tasting Notes: Light coral in colour with delicate aromas of herbs, hay and wild berries. Soft stone fruit, a savoury undercurrent and grapefruit are framed by bright acidity. Saline minerality shimmers on the bitter finish. Refreshing and light.
