Tommaso Bussola Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore ‘Ca del Laito’ 2019

  • Sale
  • Regular price $29.00

WINERY: Tommaso Bussola
REGION: Veneto
APPELLATION: Valpolicella Ripasso DOC
GRAPE: 35% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella, 5% Molinara

WINEMAKER NOTES: With 3-4 years of aging, the Ca'del Laito bottling is intended to be ready for drinking on release. The ripasso process gives much of the fruit and spice of Amarone, but with lower octane that makes it incredibly versatile at the table.

TASTING NOTES: A dark, rich Valpolicella, exuding steeped blackberry, date, ashy smoke and fragrant accents of violet, wild sage and warm brown bread. Medium-bodied and creamy, with supple tannins and a touch of coffee liqueur on the finish. Distinctive.

PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Great pairing with a wide range of foods such as grilled meats, hearty pasta, porcini mushroom risotto and strong cheeses

The story of the Tommaso Bussola winery began when Tommaso started working at the small estate of his uncle, Giuseppe Bussola. In the early years Tommaso followed in the footsteps of his uncle, making traditional wines in the classic style – which came to be labelled “BG” the initials of his uncle Giuseppe Bussola.  His first vinification was in 1983 and in each successive vintage he sought to constantly improve the quality of the wine. Today Tommaso Bussola is often mentioned along with Giuseppe Quintarelli and Dal Forno Romano as the top estates in the Valpolicella appellation
